The historic Villa, built in the typical Vallombrosano style, is 400 meters above sea level and dominates the enchanting San Martino Valley, with its medieval church, the thirteenth-century Castello di Melosa, its vineyards and olive groves.
The Accommodation
The Villa, renovated in 700 by the Benedictine monks, was recently restored respecting the original materials (so much so that material from the Firenzuola quarries was chosen for the stone restorations) and also keeping in mind the needs of contemporary comfort and livability.

About us
Absolutely the best hosts you could ask for! Me and my girlfriend went on a road trip in Northern Italy + Florence and made La Fornella dell’Anita one of our stops. On our way there we got stuck in traffic and wouldn’t arrive until late at night. But they where both so kind so they stayed up and waited for us to arrive, once we did they had prepared some amazing food. Just great overall, really friendly and kind hosts, great communication leading up to our visit as well. The house is also very beautiful, very modern and “fresh” but still has its old charm, just what you’d want from a place like this. The surrounding area also very beautiful, great pool-area and gorgeous setting in general. We also highly recommend that you eat dinner here as often as you can, Anita is a fabulous cook and we got an excellent taste of some genuine Tuscany food! La Fornella dell’Anita was without a doubt the highlight of our trip!

We arrived at La Fornella Dell’Anita having had to leave another agriturismo near Florence early because we were so dissatisfied with the accommodation. When booking La Fornella, we spoke at length with Francesco to be certain we wouldn’t be disappointed a second time. As per the title, he and Anita and their beautiful home became our saviours! As soon as we arrived, he explained that this was their home to which they were both delighted to welcome us and although they would not be invade our personal space, they would be there 24/7 for anything we needed. The property setting is magnificent – everything you would dream of seeing from your Tuscan bedroom window when you wake in the morning. The apartments, newly renovated, are absolutely gorgeous. The décor is really attractive with a beautiful mix of old antiques and contemporary conveniences. The pool area and garden are really lovely. We ate there for the four evenings we stayed and it was amongst the best food we had in Italy during our three week stay. Anita is a wonderful cook and a beautiful person. She tailored her menus to suit our children, and we adults ate everything that was put in front of us – every morsel delicious. It was great to finish our Italian trip on a high and we very much look forward to returning to help Francesco and Anita with the olive harvest some time in the future!

We very warmly recommend La Fornella (La Fornella dell’Anita) where we celebrated our wedding with friends and family. This is a fantastic place which has been renovated with very great care and understanding of the “soul” of the old building. La Fornella, in combination with a beautiful view of the valley, was the perfect setting for our wedding. Anita and Francesco are the greatest hosts, and treated us and our guests with warmth and hospitality. During our stay Anita cooked for us the best Tuscan dishes, prepared with local ingredients and a whole lot of love :-). It was absolutely amazing. Francesco is a wonderful host and a great storyteller, and has deep knowledge of both the local Tuscan and the Italian history, folklore etc. We enjoyed many evenings in their company. In short, we had the wedding of our dreams only made possible by La Fornella, Francesco and Anita. Thank you so much, and hope to see you again soon. Love Linda and Steen.

We spent two evenings dining with our almost two year old daughter at the restaurant of La Fornella dell Anita and had two wonderfull evenings there. The owners inmediately made us feel very welcome and at home in their beautiful garden serving us tasty wines and a lot of delicious home made specialties that also our daughter really liked! We felt like there was all the time in the world to relax and enjoy the best that Toscany has to offer here. We look forward to coming back in the future and spending the night in one of the beautiful rooms!

We were in the region with a group of Italian and Swiss friends on a motorcycle tour and also to see the Moto GP. The accommodations were very nice, clean spacious and the hospitality granted from Anita and Francesco was out of this world. Their English was certainly better than my Italian which helped tremendously. Really felt like home and family. Best of all was the food. Local fruit, meat, pasta and wine was the BEST! We’ve travelled all over Italy and have never had food or hospitality this nice. My wife and I would highly recommend staying here for as long as you can, enjoy the pool and the view, and explore the Tuscan countryside. Note; there is excellent WiFi through the house, grounds, pool etc…and don’t forget to buy a bottle of the family olive oil….you won’t find better in the local shops.

Elena, Yuris, Giada & Giacomo
